Little Debbie
The Little Debbie sculpture, commissioned by the McKee Parks, Trails and Greenways, stand proudly at Little Debbie Park in Collegedale, TN, as a testament to legacy, family, and community. The sculpture is inspired by a cherished photo of Debbie McKee at age 7, helping her grandparents, O.D. and Ruth McKee, founders of McKee Foods, during the Swiss Cake Roll sampling at the opening of Village Market in 1969. This powerful moment marks the humble beginnings of a brand that would go on to touch countless lives. Debbie McKee, the real Little Debbie, played an integral role in the process, visiting my studio to approve the clay model before mold-making and bronze casting. The unveiling ceremony was a heartfelt celebration, attended by Debbie, her parents and family as well as community members, and city and state leaders, all coming together to honor a legacy built on hard work, family, values and spirit of giving.
